Sigma 3 is an environmentally responsible company and we recognise our ethical obligation to ensure that all our systems and processes minimise their impact on our environment.
We continually monitor our energy use with the aim of reducing unnecessary consumption and since 2007, 90% of the waste at our 50,000 sq ft manufacturing plant in Llantrisant, has been recylced through such creative solutions as using these materials to heat the factory.
In 2006,Sigma 3 was the first company in Wales to achieve the Green Dragon Level 3 Standard Award which recognises effective environmental management, rewarding actions taken to achieve environmental improvements. All organisations are re-evaluated annually and we have renewed our accreditation each year by demonstrating continuous improvement in environmental performance and control. We minimise our use of packaging and use returnable pallets.
During our manufacturing process, we use our raw materials as efficiently as possible to minimise waste. All our timber is sourced from Forest Steward Council certified forests (FSC), which sets standards for forest management and promotes environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable management of the world's forests. We also maximise the use of wood by-products from UK sawmills and recycled wood fibre - materials that would have otherwise been burnt or destined for landfill.
The vast majority of plastics used are recyclable and the small quantity of organic solvents used for spraying are carefully stored and monitored to reduce the risk of spillage and pollution.
Sigma 3 is also a certified member of the WEEE Distributor Take Back Scheme which is an appliance recyling scheme.
