About us
Sigma 3 was established in 1975 by Brian Lakin, starting out by manufacturing and selling three ranges of kitchens with an emphasis on quality craftsmanship.
The business quickly expanded its turnover and range, adding bedrooms around 20 years ago, so that today it has become the largest manufacturer and supplier of fitted kitchens and bedrooms in Wales. Specialising in the design of customised fitted kitchen and bedroom furniture and the sale of built in appliances, Sigma 3 currently has a total of eleven retail showrooms across South Wales, Lancashire, Surrey and Sussex.
In addition to its own retail operation, Sigma 3 kitchens and bedrooms are sold nationwide through a range of commercial channels. Initially dealing with local builders, Sigma 3’s commercial reach soon expanded into national distribution, covering the North Midlands, South East and South West. Dealing direct with a variety of independent studios for the past 15 years, the company also sells through distributors and house builders such as Charles Church, Bellway and Barratt Homes, amongst others. All furniture is manufactured and despatched from Sigma 3’s Headquarters in Llantrisant, South Wales and leaves the factory as ready assembled, rigid units.
On the retail side of the business, Sigma 3 first expanded beyond South Wales in acquiring a showroom in Warton in 1999. This gave it a valuable foothold outside of Wales, and enabled the business to fulfill the enquiries it was receiving from the North West of England. In 2002, another business (County Kitchens) was acquired with its headquarters in Camberley, Surrey and a further two showrooms in Guildford and Esher. Now with a presence in the lucrative South East market, Sigma 3 was going from strength to strength. After a period of consolidation and focus on unifying the expanded company and re-branding the new showrooms, Sigma 3 was ready for further expansion. In 2005, Hammonds Kitchens was acquired with its four showrooms in Sussex.
With free design as part of the service, the company prides itself on delivering truly made to measure furniture and creative solutions for every lifestyle need. Customer service is also paramount- with more than thirty years in business, it remains a top priority, and along with the high quality product offering, provides the cornerstone upon which Sigma 3 has been built and continues to grow.
